Kenneth Don "Donny" Brown

Kenneth Don Brown, 60, known to friends and family as “Donny,” quietly passed away at his home in Gatesville on Tuesday morning December 21, 2010, surrounded by his wife and children after a brave battle against cancer. Graveside Services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 23, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Coryell City. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Donny was born on March 8, 1950, to W. H. & Sybil Brown in Gatesville, Texas. He graduated from Gatesville High School and went to work for Henry Morris and John Frank Post at the Gatesville Messenger. Donny owned and operated Ft. Gates Grocery for 20 years. Many of its patrons are still close family friends. Donny married Sandra Schraeder, the love of his life, on June 1, 1978. They were married for a blissful 32 years. Donny was preceded in death by his parents and a baby brother, Johnny. Survivors include his loving wife, Sandra Brown; son, Alan Brown; daughter Patti Farley and husband Brant; brother, Roger Brown and wife Betty; nephew Bryan and family; niece Gayle and family and numerous other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
