Doris Gribble, 84, of Gatesville, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2011. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Moffat Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Doris was born on September 22, 1926 to the late James and Lois Donhoe Terrell in Temple. She grew up in the Temple/Belton area and she graduated from Belton High School. She married Everett Gribble on March 1, 1947. Doris worked as a waitress in Temple. After she married Everett, they moved to San Antonio where her husband was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base. She traveled with her husband while he was in the service to Alaska, France, Oklahoma, and to North Carolina. While in North Carolina they managed a Holiday Inn. They retired to Gatesville where Doris went to Nursing Administrators School at MCC in Waco. They owned and operated Mensch’s Nursing Home for several years. She worked several years for the State School for Boys and the Texas Dept of Corrections in Gatesville. She was a loving wife, mother, and Granny. Doris was also a member of the Gatesville Revival Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sisters, Jane Beasley and Joyce Patterson. She is survived by her son, James Gribble and Sandra Leuschner; daughter, Shirley Whitefield and husband Michael of League City, TX; sisters, Betty Bird of Gatesville, Francis Dowell of Temple, Janet Johnson of Hominy, OK; grandchildren, Everett Shane Gribble of Killeen, Patricia Salter of Gatesville, Jimmy Dale Gribble and wife Mary of Gatesville, Mark Campbell and wife Allie of San Antonio; 9 great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gatesville Revival Center or the Moffat Cemetery Association.
