Lester W. Trammell

Lester W. Trammell, 89, of Gatesville, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Coryell Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 7, 2011 at Scott’s Funeral Home with visitation an hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Mr. Trammell was born on October 15, 1921 in New Edinburg, Arkansas to the late Jessie Howard and Carrie Elizabeth Dyer Trammell. He married Fern Marie Bowling on April 5, 1958 in Wichita Falls, TX. She preceded him in death on November 20, 2002. He was a retired veteran of WWII, the Korean and the Vietnam Era. He received several decorations including purple hearts in WWII and Korea. He was 100% service connected disabled. He retired December 31, 1964 and resided in the Gatesville area until his death. He is survived by his daughter, Ann Bugh of El Dorado, AR; one step-son, Craig Scott of Nelson, MO; two step-daughters, K’Ola Hamilton of Waco, TX; Gerre Brenda Cathey of Montgomery, TX; an adopted daughter, Dixie Johnson of Gatesville, TX; three sisters, Sybil Brown of New Edinburg, AR, Ruth Henry and Linda McDaniel both of Warren, AR; two brothers, Johnnie Leon Trammell of New Edinburg, AR and Rex Trammell of Kingsland, AR; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by one foster son, Ronnie Heird and four sisters, Sue Bell Trammell, Margie Heird, Corene Temple and Doris Dougan.
