Michael Stephen Derrick

Michael S. Derrick, 57, of Copperas Cove, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at his residence. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Hemmeline Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. Michael was born on April 13, 1953 in Gatesville to the late Billie and Zona Waldean Brashear Derrick. He attended school in Gatesville and graduated from Roundrock in 1971. He began his career at Scott & White Hospital shortly after high school. He received his RN certification from McLennan Community College in 1991. He was well known in the cancer center for his care and love toward his patients. Michael was also recognized for the donating a lifetime supply of blood over the years. Michael was a member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Izoro. Michael is survived by his daughter, Janai Derrick of Rhode Island; grandchildren, Skilear and Paitton Isle also of Rhode Island and a sister, Becky McDonald and husband Bob of Kempner. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, 1404 Amthor Ave, Copperas Cove, TX 76522 or the Grace United Methodist Church, 101 W. Ave F, Copperas Cove, TX 76522 in his memory.
