Verta Estelle Thomas Bales

Estelle Thomas Bales, age 88 of Gatesville, passed away on February 23, 2011 at a Temple hospital. Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Restland Cemetery with Rev. Jason Dean officiating. No visitation is scheduled. Estelle was born on June 10, 1922 in Seattle, TX to the late Laura Tutor Thomas and James Thomas. She attended school in Ater, Levita, Temple, and Gatesville. She married John Bales on August 9, 1946 at Mountain Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School and a training class. Estelle worked as a waitress in restaurants in the Waco and Gatesville areas. She was also employed for 17 years by Anchor Plastics, which later became Deck Boat. She is preceded in death by her husband John Bales, her parents, James Thomas and Laura Thomas Wiley, and 4 sisters, Marie, Ima, Josephine, and Dora. Estelle is survived by 3 brothers, Larry Thomas, Lloyd Thomas, and James Thomas; 2 sisters, Virginia Foster and Betty Kittoe; and several nieces and nephews. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Scott & White Hospice.
