Jim Lewis, age 69, of Cedar Hill, TX died Thursday, April 14, 2011. A memorial service will be Saturday, April 16 at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Cedar Hill, TX. In lieu of visitation, the family will be available an hour prior to the service to receive friends. Family graveside services will be held Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Restland Cemetery, 2:00 pm in Gatesville, TX. Jim was born January 7, 1942 in Tulsa, OK to the late Reverend James R. and Betty Lewis. His passion for sports led him to sports broadcasting where he worked for KCEN in Waco, Texas. Jim then joined the family business, Dallas Brake & Clutch. He ended his career self-employed as a Manufacturer’s Rep for Jim Lewis Sales. Jim was actively involved in wildlife conservation. He was the President of the Lone Star Bowhunters Association, President of Dallas Safari Club, a member of the Ellis County Sportsmans Club, a senior member of Pope & Young, and inducted into the Lone Star Bowhunters Hall of Fame in 2001. He married Sherrie Williams of Gatesville, TX, October 24, 1981. Mr. Lewis proudly served his country in the United States Air force Reserve. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Cedar Hill, Texas. Jim is survived by his wife, Sherrie Williams Lewis; daughter, Jennifer Sparks and husband, Brett of Branson, MO; sons, James R. Lewis III and wife Terri of Cedar Hill, TX and John Lewis and wife Emily of New York, NY; grandchildren, Madeline, Molly, Benjamin Sparks, Ella and James Lewis IV; sister, Laurie Lewis of Albuquerque, NM; In-Laws, Joe Bob and Barbara Williams, Frank and Jeannie Williams, and Billy Bob and Holli Williams of Gatesville, TX; and many other nieces, nephews and family members. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dallas Ecological Foundation or First Baptist Church of Gatesville, TX.
