Audrey Ellen Davidson, age 79, of Waco, passed away Monday April 18, 2011 at her residence. Memorial Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, April 25, 2011 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel in Gatesville, Texas. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Audrey was born August 11, 1931 in Yankton, SD to LeRoy William Dickman and Evangeline Mary “Babe” Slowey Dickman. She moved, with her family, to Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 11. Audrey married John Davidson on March 17, 1950. She worked for Dr. Joseph Bechtold as his assistant and the Argus-Leader as a dispatcher. John and Audrey were also owner/operators of Ross Employment Agency and A-1 Laundry. Audrey and John retired in 1987 and eventually settled in the Mesa, AZ area in 1988. Audrey enjoyed playing bingo, Trivial Pursuit, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. Audrey was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2007 and remained a true inspiration to her family during her illness. Audrey and John’s 60th wedding anniversary was celebrated in Apache Junction, AZ in August of 2010 with friends and family. They moved to Waco, TX to be closer to family. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and adopted granddaughter. Survivors include husband, John Davidson of Waco; sons, Michael Davidson and wife Kathleen of Hewitt, TX; James Davidson and wife Sharon of Huntley, IL; John Davidson and wife Marilyn of Tacoma, WA; daughter, Jane Shirley and husband Carroll of Gatesville, TX; sister, Erla Mae Williams of Yuma, AZ; brothers, Terry Dickman and wife Margie of Aberdeen, SD; and William Dickman and wife Norma of Madison, AL; grandchildren, Aimee Hennessy and husband Steve of Robinson, TX, Mick Davidson and fiancé Kathleen of Austin, TX, Jay and Brant Davidson of Washington, Amanda Shirley of San Angelo, TX and Megan Shirley of Gatesville, TX; and great grandchildren, Dylan, Josh, Bradley, Riley, Andrew, Alissa and Christopher.
