Hazel M. Carlton

Mrs. Hazel Carlton, age 77, of Gatesville, passed away at her residence on Monday, May 9, 2011. A Graveside Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Restland Cemetery with Deral McWhorter officiating. Hazel was born on September 21, 1933 in Pawnee, Texas to the late John McCarn and Daisy Holland McCarn. She married Dick Carlton in Lytle, Texas on October 27, 1953. In her early years she worked as Telephone Operator in San Antonio. She moved to the Gatesville community in 1969. Hazel was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary, and served as the Treasurer for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 3 brothers. Hazel is survived by daughters, Karen Brantner and husband Mackey Speer of Temple and Sherry Snyder and husband Greg of Valley Springs, CA; grandson, Mark Balko and wife Courtney of Waco; and two sisters, Zura Vetters of Ft. Worth and Norene Karger of San Antonio. In Lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to the American Heart Assn, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231
