Sarah Patrick Nelson

Sarah Nelson, 89, of Gatesville, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2011 in Clifton. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with visitation an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Sarah Nelson was born on March 17, 1922 to the late Antonio and Aploinaria Deanda Luevano in Oglesby, TX. She moved to Gatesville at an early age and attended school there. In 1940 she married Manuel Zapata and they had 3 children. She later married Delford Nelson in 1976. Sarah worked as a nurse’s aid for over 20 years in nursing facilities in the Gatesville area. She will be remembered for her love of cooking and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Delford Nelson, 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Sarah is survived by her sons, Tony Zapata and wife Carolyn and David Luevano both of Gatesville; daughters, Matilda Maynard and husband Leonard of IN, Dora Voss of Bryan, TX; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
