Paul Austin Sawyer, age 78, of Gatesville, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at his residence. Graveside services are scheduled for 10 AM Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Murphree Cemetery in Evant, Texas. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 PM Friday at the Funeral Home. Paul was born November 25, 1932 in Evant, Texas. He was the son of Gilbert H. Sawyer and Allie Price Sawyer. He attended schools in Evant and Gatesville, graduating from Gatesville High School in 1950. In 1953, he married the love of his life, Trevelyn Lindley, and two weeks later deployed to Korea to serve in the U.S. Army. His career was spent at the Communications Center at Fort Hood. He was a great philosopher who was passionate about his family, his country, his red Corvette, and listening to Bix Beiderbecke. It was with great pleasure that he faithfully attended the Red Brick School House Reunions that were organized by friend and fellow classmate, Dr. George Whitt. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Trevelyn, and daughter Pamela Bone, husband Phil, and their children Chad and Cindy Bone, and the tadpoles, Jordan and Kendall, and daughter Michelle Tambascio, husband, John, and their daughter, Hannah, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
