Robert (Bob) Thomas, 59, died Saturday, June 4th in Waco from Alzheimer’s disease. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 AM on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville with visitation following until 11 AM. The family will have a private burial service at Pearl Cemetery. Bob was born on October 28, 1951, in Gatesville, to Billie Jean and James Thomas. He graduated from Gatesville High in 1970. He attended McLennan Community College and graduated from University of Texas at Arlington in 1975. He began working at McLennan County Juvenile Probation Department in 1976, later worked as a Budget Officer and retired as Director of the Adult Probation Department in 2001. He was active and held an office in the Texas Probation Association for many years. In 2001 he and his partner opened RSVP Event Equipment Rental and he worked for several years before he became ill. Bob loved his family, friends and pets. He was a skilled golfer and enjoyed the great outdoors. The family wishes to thank the staff at AlzCare, Friends for Life Adult Day Care Center and Wesley Woods for your support over the years. He is survived by his longtime companion, Nancy Comer of Waco; his sister Annette Cole of Longview; his twin brother Jim and wife Jan Thomas of Austin; his brother, Tim Thomas of Austin; step-sisters, Heidi Skelton and JoLynn Brown of Austin; step-mother, Gene Thomas of Dallas and his beloved cat Barney. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Billie Jean and Joe Skelton; his father James Thomas; brother-in-law Dave Cole; his maternal grandparents, Avo and Chock Black and his paternal grandmother, Lucille Thomas.
