John P. Kampfer age 64 of Gatesville, passed away on July 16, 2011 in a Dallas hospital. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M., Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Osage Cemetery. There will be no set time for visitation. John was born on November 5, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Anton and Madeline Kiefer Kampfer. He grew up in Chicago and graduated from Lane High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. He owned and managed his own rental properties in this area. He was a dog and cat lover especially Great Danes. He raised Angora Goats on a ranch in the Osage community and had a farm on Old Georgetown Road in Gatesville. John believed in quality work and enjoyed reading and had interests in motorcycles, vintage aircraft, history, anthropology, ancient civilizations, humorous artwork and the Arts. He will always be remembered as a kind and fair man with a gentle spirit. He is survived by his companion and best friend, Mary Anzalone of Gatesville; his former wife, Pat Tebo of Jamaica; and his sister, Linda Sopher of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois.
