Mrs. Troy Lee (Walcie ) Hunt age 95, of Gatesville, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Willie Clarke officiating. Concluding the service, the family will receive visitors at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Restland Cemetery. Mrs. Hunt was born on May 14, 1916 in Coryell County, to the late Walter and Sally Powell Spence. Her father passed away in an accident before her birth and was raised by her mother and step-father, Elmer Cummings. She grew up here in Coryell County and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1935. She married Troy Lee Hunt on July 5, 1935. They owned and operated the Gatesville Commission Company for 40 years, where she cooked and operated the café there. Her husband preceded her in death on November 12, 1994. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gatesville. Walcie loved Christmas and birthdays, especially her own birthday. She was known to often buy and wrap her own Christmas gifts. She also enjoyed the annual Rodeo Parade, especially when her boys were riding in it. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ara Getchell and earlier this year by a son, Don Hunt on February 14, 2011. She is survived by her sons, Robert J. Hunt and wife Dorothy of Gatesville and Ronnie Hunt and wife Brenda of Gatesville; a daughter-in-law, Mary Margaret Nesbitt Hunt of Waco; nine grandchildren, Susan Hunt, Melanie Eddolls, Allison Hilliard, Joanna Snow, Jonathan Hunt, Pat Hunt, Clay Hunt, John Hunt and Jared Hunt; and twelve great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Life Gifts, Coryell Memorial Hospital Foundation, 1507 W. Main, Gatesville, Texas 76528.
