Phil Yarbrough, N.P., age 48 of Belton and formerly of Gatesville, passed away on September 15, 2011 near Gatesville. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 20, 2011 with full military honors at the Coryell Community Church in Gatesville, with U.S. Army Chaplain Troy D. Allan officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Tennessee. Phil was born on October 24, 1962 in Humboldt, Tennessee. He grew up in Stanton, TN and graduated from Haywood High School in Brownsville, TN in 1981 and was voted most intelligent in his class. He joined the U.S. Army and after basic training was in the 1st 75th Airborne Ranger Battalion. During his military career, he served in Grenada, in the Pathfinder Unit on Ft. Hood, an Army Recruiter in Washington State, Rakassan Unit at Ft. Campbell, KY and in Desert Storm. He received his Bachelor Degree in Nursing from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN and was President of his graduating class. He received his Master’s Degree in Nursing from Clarkson College in Omaha, NE. He retired from the Army in 1998. He served as Coryell County’s Emergency Management Coordinator for seven years, from 2004 until February of this year. He married Tammy Galdones on April 3, 2010. They resided in Gatesville, until moving to Belton in July of this year. He worked as a Nurse Practitioner for the Scott & White Clinic in Gatesville and at various clinics in Killeen and Copperas Cove. He currently worked as a Nurse Practitioner for Spectrum Healthcare, TMC 14 at North Ft. Hood. He was preceded in death by his father, George Robert Yarbrough and his grandparents, Uriah and Hattie Yarbrough and Henry and Clara Burress. He is survived by his wife Tammy of Belton; mother, June Burress Yarbrough-Harris and husband Bobby; Sons, Joshua Yarbrough of Newman, GA, Justin Evans and wife Maegan of Evadale, TX, Uriah Yarbrough of Corpus Christi, TX, Ian Yarbrough of Gatesville, Hunter Worley of Belton and Lemuel Galdones of Belton; daughters Katy Yarbrough of Prairie Grove, AR, Lolita Galdones of Belton, Latoya Jackson of Killeen; sister, Pam Evans and husband Kurt of Prairie Grove, AR; brother, Paul Yarbrough of Stanton, TN; grandchildren, Bradley Philip and Jenesys Jackson Yarbrough.
