Billy Haynes Clary

Billy H. Clary, 82, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at his home in Gatesville. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Gatesville City Cemetery with Rev. Tim Crosby officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Billy was born on July 13, 1929 in Coryell County to the late Bertrede Dewey and Alma Bessie Featherston Clary. Billy attended school in Gatesville and served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. After returning home, he worked at Rocketdyne, which is now Space X, for a number of years in McGregor. He owned and operated Poor Boy’s Texaco in Gatesville before working at the State School for Boys and later retired from TDCJ. Billy was an avid fisherman and gardener; those he loved were never without fish or vegetables. He also had a love for animals especially his dog Rocky. He was preceded in death by his parents and his longtime friend, Alphine Gallaway. Billy is survived by his children, Trisha Janes and husband Barry of Waco, Billy Jack Clary of Gatesville, Dena Bell and husband Jerry of Gatesville, Karen Dick and husband Andy of Harker Heights; sisters, Dorothy Barrington and Bobbie Ferrell both of Gatesville; 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fuzzy Friends, 6321 Airport Road Waco, TX 76708-9672.
