Edgar B. Moore

Edgar B. Moore, age 75, of Gatesville, went to be with Jesus, surrounded by his family, on Friday, October 21, 2011 at a local nursing center. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 23rd at Scott’s Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Davidson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 2-3:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Edgar was born in Coryell County, Texas on March 6, 1936 to the late Broce Moore and Zora McCarver Moore. He attended school in Gatesville. He married his high school sweetheart Sandra Beck on June 21, 1957. Edgar was a self employed carpenter, working in Gatesville, Copperas Cove, Killeen, and Lampasas. He loved horses, roping steers, teaching many young men to rope over the years. He also loved hunting with his coon dogs. Edgar was very talented in making things with his hands. He loved his grandchildren and loved to tell them stories and jokes to make them laugh. He especially loved his great grandbaby who he called Miss America. He was a Christian and a member of Pecan Grove Baptist Church. Edgar is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra Beck Moore of Gatesville; children, Katy Smith and husband Mike of Gatesville, Tammy Barnett and husband Lynn of Gatesville, and Rudy Moore and wife Deedra of Gatesville; grandchildren, Cheyenne Kizer and husband Ricky, Bryce Barnett and wife Ramey, Kili Smith and Wacy Moore; and one great grandchild, London Kizer. In Lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to Pecan Grove Baptist Church.
