Donald Charles, age 67, of Gatesville, passed away from this earth surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Coryell Memorial Hospital. Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery in Purmela. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday before the service. Donald was born August 27, 1944 in Gatesville, Texas. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1962. He was a butcher by trade and also worked for several years at the MHMR in Gatesville. Donald joined the army in 1964 and served time in the states, as well as Germany. He was a loving and kind son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was a Christian, having been baptized at an early age. He was a life long member of the West Main Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter (Kid) Spencer, grandparents, Bertha Spencer and Maude and Eucie Curry. He is survived by his mother, Imogene Spencer; identical twin brother, Ronald Charles; sisters, Kay Bell and husband Keith and Penny Massingill and husband Lynn, all of Gatesville. Also surviving are loving nephews, Gavin Massingill and wife Holly, Chase Massingill, Seth Bell and wife Marissa and Darion Roberts; nieces, Tobi Shirley and husband Brandon, and Lane Olvera and husband Victor; great niece, Zebedee Bell and great nephews, Mace Massingill, Foster and Fielder Shirley and Zaiden Bell. Memorials may be made to any Mental Health Organization or to the local Food for Families drive.
