Nerine Kinsey, 90, of Gatesville passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 9, 2011 at First Baptist Church with visitation at 10 AM prior to service. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Nerine Kinsey was born on December 7, 1921 to the late Byrd E. and Eva Lipsey King. She grew up in the Plainview community attending Plainview School and later graduated from Gatesville High School. She was very active in 4-H. She attended Tarleton State College where she met Edgar L. Kinsey, whom she married in August 1941. They lived in Arizona, California, and Delaware before his death in July 1945, at which time Nerine returned to Gatesville. She completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Texas State College for Women (now TWU). She taught Home Economics in Brenham, Jonesboro, and Gatesville for a total of over 40 years. She really enjoyed working with the students. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gatesville, where she worked in the nursery and with the Mother’s Day Out program for many years. After retirement, Nerine enjoyed working at the Coryell County Museum and the Care Center, and loved attending Coryell Retired Teachers and church. She also loved to travel and took several trips with friends and relatives to destinations that included Michigan, a tour of the east coast to Maine, Branson, Hawaii, Alaska, and Europe. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Kinsey Huntley; grandchildren, Heather Hitt and husband Lonnie, and Wayne Huntley and wife Jacki; sister, Eva Lou Apel and husband Eddie; sisters-in-law, Frances King, Norma King, and Geraldine Kinsey; great-grandchildren, Brandon Hitt and wife Heather, Jessica Hitt, Beth Allen, Paeton Huntley, Kord Huntley, and Kodi Hitt Wiley and husband Justin; and great-great grandchildren, Grace and Sophie Hitt, and Cooper Wiley and numerous nieces and nephews.
