Aretta Nowlin

Aretta Nowlin, age 79, passed away on December 9, 2011 in Iola, KS. A Graveside Service will be held at 1PM on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby. The family will receive visitors from 9-11 AM at Scott’s Funeral Home prior to the service. Aretta Nowlin was born on January 24, 1932 in Dodge City, KS to Thomas O’Mara and Anna (Haffey) O’Mara. She was raised on a farm outside of Colony, KS. Aretta married Gilbert Nowlin, Jr. on June 30, 1954. She was a registered nurse and very much enjoyed caring for people. She was a member of Brentwood Hills Primitive Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, TX. Aretta was preceded in death by her husband; son, John Nowlin; brother, Thomas O’Mara; sisters, Coletta Sprague and Valetta Stanley. She is survived by her children, Steven Nowlin of Converse, TX, Patricia McGowan of Westphalia, KS and Kathryn Honea of Gatesville, TX; brother, John O’Mara of Iola, KS; 8 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
