Felix Royl (Preacher) Cole

Felix Royl (Preacher) Cole, Jr., age 87, of Flat, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the Temple VA Hospital. Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Felix was born December 14, 1924 in Spur, Texas. He was the son of the late Felix Royl Cole, Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Rose Cole. He married Jeraldene Barnard on April 27, 1946 in Gatesville. Felix served in the United States Army from 1943 until 1945 as an army combat engineer. He received five bronze stars and served in the European Theater. He was a member of Flat Baptist Church. Felix was preceded in death by his parents, infant grandson, Brandon John Cole; brother, Buster Cole; sister, Jo Bell Palmer and son-in-law, Bill Smith. Survivors include his wife, Jeraldene Barnard Cole; daughter, Gaylene C. Smith; sons, Roy Dean Cole, Sr. and wife Trisha and Randy Lee Cole, Sr. and wife Kathy; ten grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and sisters, Bobbie Milner, Pauline Drever and Lois Hopson. Memorials may be made to the Mound Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 177, Mound, TX 76558.
