Ernest Wayne Holden

Ernest Wayne Holden, age 77, of Gatesville, went to be with his ancestors and Jesus on Saturday, January 7, 2012. He had been a resident at Hillside Manor Nursing Home for 9 months prior to his passing. Wayne was a Star Track and Football player while attending Gatesville High School. He loved music and played the guitar in the church for many years. Wayne accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized in the Comal River on Easter Sunday in 1957. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Wayne owned and operated Holden’s Backhoe Services prior to his retirement. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Lloyd Holden and Pearlene Holden Fitch, and an infant sister, La Juan Holden. Wayne is survived by his wife, Patsy Wiley Holden; daughter, Lynn Freeman; sons, Lloyd Holden, Billy Holden, and Michael Holden; sister, Sue Bankhead; grandchildren, Kayla Miller, Brandi Graham, Chancy Holden, Alexia Bullard, Addison Wood, Brandon Holden, Quade Holden, and Heath Holden; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 nephew; 1 niece; and numerous cousins. Wayne requested no formal funeral. Scott’s Funeral Home handled other arrangements. The family will hold a private Memorial Service in the near future.
