Barbara Joyce McClure

Barbara McClure, 71, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2012 at her home in Gatesville. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Scott's Funeral Home with burial following on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Arlington Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City, OK. The family will have visitation on Thursday at the funeral home from 5-7 with a Rosary at 7PM. Barbara was born on January 28, 1940 to the late Teddy and Florence Dunn Herndon in Fort Smith, AR. She grew up in Oklahoma City and later married William McClure in 1968. They moved to Dallas in 1976 and lived there for 25 years. After her husband retired, they moved back to Oklahoma City to be near family. Barbara moved to Gatesville in 2003, after her husband died, to be near her son. She was active in the Senior Center, Women’s Auxiliary, faithful member of First Baptist Church singing in the choir, loved her family playing bingo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children, Connie Forbes and J.D. Boyd; brothers, Tim Herndon, Billy Herndon and Richard Herndon. Barbara is survived by her children, Larry McClure and wife Elizabeth of Gatesville, Ricky Forbes and wife Angie, Cheryl Boyd both of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Everett Herndon and Teddy Herndon; sister, Norma Howe of Oklahoma City, OK; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
