Joe Dean Burt

Joe Burt, age 63, of Waco, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at a Temple hospital. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Parkview Baptist Church in Waco. Burial will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Greenbriar Cemetery in Gatesville. The family will receive visitors from 5-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. Mr. Burt was born on January 29, 1948 in Gatesville, Texas to the late Roland Wallace Burt and Ila Clarice (Jane) Franks Burt. He grew up and attended school in Gatesville, graduating in 1966. He attended TSTI (now TSTC) for two years receiving an Associate degree in Land Surveying. He married Connie Crouch on February 22, 1969 in Guthrie, OK. Joe joined the US Navy, in the SeaBees branch (Construction Battalion), serving for 3 years. He and Connie then moved to Houston where they lived for 30 years. He worked as a Land Surveyor for Dow Chemical. Joe and Connie moved to Waco in 2001. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and was involved in Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry where he loved to serve the Lord. Mr. Burt is survived by his wife, Connie Burt of Waco; son, Kristopher Joe Burt and wife Jeana of North Carolina; daughter, Jodi Cox and husband Michael of Marquez, TX; brothers, Bill Burt of Gatesville, TX and Ben Burt of Oregon; grandchildren, Kathryn and William Burt, Mikayla, Julianna and Jacob Cox.
