Hurstell “Gus” Farley, age 89, of Gatesville, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2012 in a Temple hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Mound Cemetery with full Military Honors. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Gus was born on August 2, 1922 in Stearns, KY to the late Elam Issac and Mary Elsie McCartt Farley. His family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where he attended school. After high school graduation, Gus joined the United States Army. He served during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from the services after 23 years of faithful service to his country. He married Betty Stubblefield in 1955 in Houston while stationed at North Ft. Hood. After retiring from the Army he also worked many other jobs. He retired from Civil Service, Gatesville ISD and worked a few years at the National Bank of Central Texas in Gatesville. Gus was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and a sister. Gus is survived by his wife, Betty Farley; daughters, Terry Ingram of KY, Mary DeLollis and husband Tony of CO; grandchildren, Mandie Reid and husband Clint of Gatesville, Clayton Ingram of Gatesville, Rachel and Grace DeLollis of CO; great grandchildren, Brodey Bartek, Kealey Hitzegrad, Cameron Reid Elliott Ingram all of Gatesville and Xander Ingram of Temple.
