James H. Wicker

Mr. James H. Wicker, age 74 of Gatesville, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Cedar Ridge Church of Christ with Steve McGaugh officiating. Private committal services will be at Restland Cemetery. James was born on April 1, 1938 in Carlton Hollow in Coryell County. He grew up and went to school in Gatesville. He attended Baylor University and graduated from Texas A&M University. He was a school teacher in Borger and Killeen. He married Darline Thompson on January 8, 1960. They moved back to Gatesville in 1980, where he owned and operated Wicker Saddle Shop until 2003. He was a member and Elder of the Midway Church of Christ near Topsey. He was preceded in death by a son, Reb Wicker in 1967 and a brother, Damon Wicker. He is survived by his wife, Darline Wicker; daughter, Darbra Dee Courtney and husband Richard of Gatesville; son, Perry Wicker of Gatesville; sister, Janice Herring and husband Charles of Gatesville; sister-in-law, Mary Sue Wicker of Katy; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
