Jimmie D. Moore age 64 of Mound, went to be with his Heavenly Father, on Friday, April 20, 2012, surrounded by his family in Temple. A celebration and tribute to his life are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the White Mound Baptist Church Tabernacle. His family and friends will receive visitors after the service at the Church. Private family graveside services will be held at the Mound Cemetery this week. Jimmie was born on September 6, 1947, to Jimmie Lee and Pearl Jones Moore in Gatesville. He grew up in the Mound area, going to school in Flat and graduating from Gatesville High School in 1965. He was a member and Deacon of the White Mound Baptist Church. He married Geneva Cole November 12, 1966 in Gatesville. Jim’s career started with the Federal Government in 1965 working in the computer field at South Fort Hood Texas, transferring to the Veterans Administration in Austin and returning to South Fort Hood in 1980, retiring in 2004 after 38 years and eight months. He and his wife also owned and operated the Mound Grocery Store for several years. His hobbies included working with wood and playing his bass. He was a member of the gospel band The Beulah Land Singers in the 1980s. He started playing country music in the 1990s and continued until 2010, playing with Don Crum and the Heartland Band, Josh Evetts Band, The Chaparral’s and various other bands. He was preceded in death by his father Jimmie Lee Moore; brother, Ronnie Moore; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kerney and Mae Cole. His survivors include his wife of 45 years Geneva of Mound; children Daren Moore and friend, Shari Russell of Gatesville and Nicole Gohlke and husband Nathan Gohlke of Gatesville; mother, Pearl Moore of Mound; brother, Travis Moore and wife Vivian Moore of Gatesville; sister, Nancy Harris and husband Dennis Harris of Mound; brothers-in-law Allen Cole and wife Cathy of Boerne; Ronnie Cole and wife Nawata of Gatesville; and grandchildren whom he adored, Bailey and Brenden Gohlke. The family requests no flowers please. Jimmie would want that expression of your sympathy to be given to someone in need in his memory and honor.
