John William Phillips

John William Phillips, 85, of Clifton, TX passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville with burial following at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. John was born on May 11, 1927 in Lomeda, TX to Thomas R. and Zelma Kinehlow Phillips. He joined the United States Army in January of 1945 and served until August of 1947. He married Stevie Zelma Wood on February 8, 1949. John went to school at the University of Houston and received training in auto mechanics. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stevie Phillips; daughter, Lorena Phillips; several brothers and sisters. John is survived by his children, Stephen Phillips, Johnnie Mae Locklear, David Phillips, Stevie Alvarez; siblings, Burlin, Taddy, Grace and Faye; 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and expecting one great great grandchild.
