Trent Otis Yows, 85, long time Gatesville resident, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2012 in Sugar Land, Texas. Trent was loved deeply by both family and friends, and will be missed. He leaves a legacy of love, and great friendships. Services will be at 1:00 PM Monday, June 4, at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, 904 East Leon Street Gatesville, TX, with Walter Davidson presiding. Burial will follow at the Weaver Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday at Scott’s Funeral Home. Trent was born on October 10, 1926 in the Ames Community to Otis and Myrtle (Monroe) Yows. Trent grew up in Gatesville, and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1944. He was a World War II veteran, entering into service with the United States Navy on August 22, 1944. He served as a Seaman First Class on the USS Franklin CV-13, and saw combat action in the South Pacific Theater. He was Honorably Discharged on August 23, 1946. Trent will be forever linked to the brave men who served aboard the USS Franklin. Trent retired from Southwestern Bell in 1987, his lifelong employer, where he was remembered as a dedicated and hard working employee. In his retirement, Trent lived on his family farm on Moccasin Bend Road, where he enjoyed working, farming, and raising cattle. Trent was an avid outdoorsman, and was widely known as a skilled hunter. Trent worshipped his Lord at Coryell Community Church in Gatesville. Trent was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Ruth Yows Watson, and his brother, Mann Yows. Trent is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Margaret, currently living in Sugar Land, Texas; his brother-in-law Charles F. Cook, wife Bird, and their children Cara and Sara Cook, and his brother-in-law Larry T. Cook, his wife Sheila, and their children Taylor, Travis, and Trent; his nephew, David O. Watson and wife Gwen of Gatesville; a niece, Wanda Chilton and husband Harold of Bryan; 5 great nephews, Joe Dan Watson and wife Darlena, Jim Watson and wife Kristi, Heath Chilton, Keith Chilton, Blake Chilton and wife Sarah, 5 great-great nephews and 4 great-great nieces and several cousins.
