Aletha Maxwell Paul

Mrs. Aletha Maxwell Paul, age 97 of Corsicana, formerly of Gatesville, passed away on Saturday, June 09, 2012. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the Gatesville City Cemetery, with Dr. Royse Cockrell officiating. Following the services, a time of fellowship for the family and friends, will be held at the Gateway Baptist Church at 12 noon. Mrs. Paul was born on June 1, 1915 in Coryell County, now part of Ft. Hood, to the late Rev. W.O. and Dixie Horton Hopson. She married Milton Maxwell in 1930. They had a wonderful marriage for 50 years, until he preceded her in death in 1980. She later married W.P. Paul, Sr. in 1997 and he preceded her in death in 2009. She was a longtime resident of Gatesville, moving to Corsicana in 2010. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, until her marriage to Mr. Paul, moving her membership to Gateway Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her son, Rufus Maxwell in 2008, four brothers, and one sister. Survivors include her daughters, Linda Lee and husband David of Corsicana and Patricia Bell and husband David of Corsicana; stepdaughter, Johnnie Williams and husband Bobby of Gatesville; step son, W.P. Paul, Jr. and wife Martha of Jonesboro; brother, Willie Joe Hopson and wife Johnnie of Bakersfield, California; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.
