Travis Latham, 91, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at his home in Gatesville. Graveside Services will be at 2:30 PM, Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the Turnersville Cemetery with Brother H.J. Billingsley officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Monday, June 25, 2012 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Travis was born on March 30, 1921 in Gatesville to the late Banks Edward and Olar May Franklin Latham. He attended school in White Hall and married Bertie Baize in 1939. He was a farmer and rancher until moving to Grand Prairie to work at Boeing as an inspector. Travis was drafted into the United States Army in 1943 and served for 18 months during WW II. He moved his family back to Coryell County settling in the Turnersville area where he again farmed and ranched while working at Rocketdyne in McGregor, where he retired after 32 years. Travis was a member of the Church of Christ and was a preacher for a number of years at the Ireland Church of Christ. He will be remembered for his strong faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bertie; daughter, Darneda Pruitt; siblings, Irene Latham, Johnny Latham, Benny Latham, Virgie Williams, Cleburne (Jack) Latham, Flossie Fowler, B.E. Latham, Orlean Latham, Helen Latham; daughter-in-law, Dean Latham and son-in-law, J.L. Pruitt. Travis is survived by his children, Dewayne Latham, Beverly Olson, Vickie Knight and husband John; 17 grandchildren; multiple great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Florine Latham.
