Loyd Fred “Tooter” Lam, age 82, of Mound, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012 at The Meadows nursing facility. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Crosby officiating. Burial will follow at the Mound Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Loyd was born on August 31, 1929 to the late Paul and Winnie Lam. He married Ellen Ann Riley Lam on October 18, 1949. He worked as a homebuilder for many years in Temple, Killeen, Copperas Cove and Gatesville. Loyd was a 55 year Mason and was a member of Maples Lodge #791 A.F. and A.M. in Flat. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and had received the Golden Trowel Award. Loyd learned to play guitar and to dance later in life and enjoyed both a great deal. Friends and family all said that Loyd was one of the nicest, kindest men around and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ellen Ann Lam; a son, Terry Stephen Lam; and a sister, Barbara Bruton. Loyd is survived by daughters, Pat Whaley and husband Doyle(Butch) of Gatesville, Linda Fuller of Gatesville, and Missy Lam of Beeville; brother, Max Lam of Gatesville; sister, Nancy Collins of Waco; grandchildren, Candi Adcock, Justin Fuller, Stefanie Fuller, Melissa Pruitt, Crystal Argabright, Julie Jones, Andrew Jones, and Ashley Jones; and 7 great grandchildren.
