Jerry Brown, age 67, of Gatesville, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at a Temple hospital. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Charlie Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Levita Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Jerry was born October 1, 1944 in Lampasas County, Texas. He was the son of the late Charlie Alvin Brown and Lillie Mae Melton Brown. Jerry grew up and lived most of his life in Coryell County. He went to Gatesville and Ireland Schools up to the eighth grade and then he went to work to help his mom take care of the family after his dad passed away. He married Darlene Jaster on August 9, 1963. They lived within a half mile of their current home all of their married lives. Jerry did carpenter work most of his life. He very much loved life. His family was very important to him. He and his son worked together from the time his son was old enough. He was very close to all his brothers, working with them on many projects. When his grandchildren were born, they became his life. Then when the great grandchildren were born, they were, even more so. He enjoyed doing anything outdoors, playing dominoes, going to the dirt track races, tinkering with anything that had wheels and just spending as much time with his family as he could. Jerry never gave up on anything he did, he believed in working hard, no matter what. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, a daughter, Linda Brown Aguilar and a son, Jerry Lewis Brown. Survivors include wife, Darlene Brown; granddaughters, Jessica Smart and husband Ross, Kayla Chumley and husband Zane; great-granddaughters, Joli and Jacy Archie; sister, Martha Brown; brothers, Wesley Brown and wife Lewanda, Carl Brown and Wife Molla, Roy Brown and wife Linda and John Brown and wife Janie. Pallbearers will be Ross Smart, Zane Chumley, Floyd Brown, Wes Brown, Zach Long and Benji Johnson.
