Clara D. Ballard, age 94, of Gatesville, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 at a local nursing center. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. There is no set visitation time. Clara was born November 22, 1917 in Comanche, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Moseley and Ludie Gowen Moseley. She married Pink Edwin Ballard in 1936, residing in Bee House, Texas, moving to Gatesville in the 1950’s. Clara followed her late husband during WWII, living in Hearne and Paris, Texas, Florida, California and Michigan. They were hopelessly in love, and she would move with him finding a room and a job. Clara was a member of Mountain Baptist Church and she was a daily Bible reader. She had a green thumb when it came to flowers. She loved to fish and mow her yard. She also helped on the farm and taking care of their rent houses. She worked at Bennett’s Department Store for 20 years. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Pink Edwin Ballard; sisters, Minnie Margarete Conner and Mae Belle Malone; her son, Darrell Gene Self; a brother, C.W. Moseley and his two children, Shela Rose and Anthony Moseley. Survivors include her only daughter, Jo Ann Ballard Jones and husband Michael; grandchildren, Shelly Lynn Gaston Washburn and husband Kael, Stacy Ann Gaston Stovall, Eddie Don Gaston and wife Elisha, and Donnie Wayne Gaston and wife Renee; great grandchildren, Ashley Lynn Holland and husband Allen, Alisha Ann Carothers and fiancé Clayton Snell, Colton Stovall and wife Brittany, Natalie Brook Gaston and fiancé Kyle McCoy, Kalib Stovall, Sebastian Thompson, Kadon Gaston, and Justin Washburn and fiancé Lacy Kelley; great-great grandchildren, Willow Aliece Holland, Punch Allen Holland, Kelly Ann Stovall, Acie Ann Carothers, Kade Washburn, and Anika Steele; one sister, Guindolen Ann Anderson and husband J.B. and numerous nieces and nephews.
