LaQuotta Joy Stewart Smith

LaQuotta Joy Stewart Smith, age 75, of Gatesville, passed away, Monday July 9, 2012 at a local nursing center. Services are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Pearl Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Scott’s Funeral Home. LaQuotta was born June 18, 1937 in the Elijah Community of Coryell County. She was the daughter of the late Ora Sterling Stewart and Maude Hill Stewart. She moved with her family to the Liberty Community in 1942 and later moved to Pearl, where she lived until she was eighteen. LaQuotta attended school at Weatherford Junior College and transferred to North Texas State College where she received a degree in Elementary Education in 1961. On April 11, 1959 she married Jesse Leo (Sonny) Smith. They moved to Gatesville in 1964. LaQuotta has been active in The West Main Church of Christ and is now a member of The Gatesville Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, and Husband, Jesse (Sonny) Smith. Survivors include sons, Joel Lynn Smith and wife Kathy, Mark Alan Smith and wife Dede, and Paul Dean Smith; grandchildren, Tyson Smith, Kaycie Smith and husband Garry Miller, Kristi Roberts and husband Burt, Wyatt Smith, Jacob Smith, Randi Smith, Jessi Smith and Joshua Smith and great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Wade, Baylyn and Jessie.
