Otis Garner

Otis Garner, 76, of Gatesville, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012 in a Temple Hospital. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Scott’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at Squaw Creek Cemetery just outside of Glen Rose. No visitation is scheduled. Mr. Garner was born on July 1, 1936 in Plainview, TX to the late J.D. and Ruby Daniels Garner. He was raised in Glen Rose and graduated from High School there. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and served several years before being medically discharged after having an accident. He married Wanda Gregory on August 2, 1964 in Glen Rose where they lived until early 70’s when they moved to Arizona. They later moved and raised their family in Gatesville in 1979. Otis loved to fish, gardening and enjoyed people. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Jerry Dale Garner and Roger Lee Garner. Otis is survived by his wife of 47 years, Wanda Garner; daughters, Betty Whipkey, Rebecca Hoisington, Karen Hoisington; sons, Charles Garner, Allen Garner, Arthur Garner; sister, Majesta Livingston; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
