Charles H. Floyd, of Bay City passed away on July 22, 2012 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones. Graveside services will be held at Restland Cemetery at 1:00 PM on July 25, 2012. Visitation will be from 5–7:00 PM on Tuesday July 24, 2012 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Charlie was born on May 9, 1937 in Teague, TX to the late Roy Lee and Leona Allen Floyd. He was raised by his mother and step father, Nute Rutherford. He married Jewel Thompson on November 24, 1954 in Wink, TX. Charlie was a great and loving father not only to his own children but to many. He had a great love for welding and was a welder for most of his life. He taught many of the men on both sides of the family how to weld; who then passed this knowledge onto their children. He got to see the world as he traveled from pipeline to pipeline. He was a member of the Pipeline Union Associations #798 for 45 years. He was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to all. He was a Shriner, a 33rd degree Mason and a proud member of the Masonic Lodge. He was well known for saying that he could weld anything but the crack of dawn and a broken heart. He wanted all of you to know 3’s to you. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father; his wife, Jewel; daughter, Shelia Floyd; son-in-law, Jim Kelems; brother, Lee Roy Floyd and wife Edna Floyd; sister, Doris Nissen; brother-in-law, Clifford Logan and wife Jean Logan; sister-in-law, Melda Felton and nephews Roy Floyd and Wayne Logan. He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Kelems; brother, Eule David Rutherford; sister, Jewel Halamicek; brother-in-law, Felton Thompson; grandchildren, Danielle Englund and husband Chris, Desira Kelems, Ian Stewart, and Lawson Stewart; great grandchild, Darian Russell and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
