John Floyd

Mr. John Floyd, age 89 of Gatesville passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012 in a Temple hospital. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Hemmeline Cemetery, with Dr. Levi Price officiating. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Floyd was born on July 10, 1923 in Moody, Texas to the late Howard P. and Annie Ogle Floyd. He served in the US Army, during WWII and was a Purple Heart Recipient. He married Joyce Bramblett on June 15, 1946. He was a civil service employee at Ft. Hood and a retired farmer and rancher. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gatesville, the D.A.V. and the V.F.W. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Floyd; daughter, Cathy Tesch and husband Tim of Gatesville; sister, Pauline Young and husband Wayne of Austin; brothers, Raymond Floyd and wife Mary Frances of Gatesville, Joe Floyd and wife Carolyn of Gatesville, Bill Floyd and wife Joyce (Peewee) of Gatesville; and a grandson Timothy Neal Tesch, Jr. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Hemmeline Cemetery Association, c/o Sheila Necessary, 1050 FM 1783, Gatesville, TX 76528.
