Vesta Faye Griggs

Vesta Faye Griggs, a resident of Evant, Texas, since the 1940's, passed away Wednesday, August 8, at the age of 103. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 11, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church of Evant. Burial will follow at Murphree Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7:00 P.M. on Friday at Scott's Funeral Home in Gatesville. Mrs. Griggs was born on July 11, 1909 in Coryell County, Texas to the late Osmond Fletcher Trammell and Lydia Minerva Morrow Trammell. She married George Griggs on July 22, 1928 in Gatesville, Texas. She loved gardening, working with her flowers, and painting. She is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, George Griggs, in 1981, and a son, Ronnie Griggs, in 1990; 3 brothers; and 5 sisters. Mrs. Griggs is survived by her daughter, Rita Buckner of Hamilton; sister, Marie Pointer of Hamilton; 6 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; and many other loving friends and family.
