Effie Gertrude Thompson

Effie Gertrude Thompson, age 99, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2007 in Austin, Texas. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, October, 29, 2007 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel in Gatesville. Burial will follow at Baggett Creek Cemetery in Gustine. There is no set time for visitation. Gertrude was born October 28, 1907 in Coryell County, Texas. She was the daughter of Jodie Brown and Effie Williams Brown. Gertrude attended school at Ewing and graduated from Gatesville High School. She married Robert Irvin Thompson on May 31, 1943 in Gatesville. She worked as a waitress for many years in Killeen and Austin. Gertrude was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Ora Lee Whitmore and Luevnia Rose and brother; J. B. Brown. Survivors include her son, Joe Ed Thompson and wife Margaret of Austin; brother, J. W. Brown and wife Jo of Gatesville; and grandchildren Karen Thompson of Austin and Regan Coulon and husband Mike of Queens, NY.
