Caril West

Caril West, age 91, of Gatesville, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2012 in Gatesville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Buckhorn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 – 8 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Caril was born April 18, 1921 in Leander, Texas to Jim and Bessie West. He was raised and attended school at the Union Hill community on Ft. Hood. After school, Caril worked as a truck driver, ranch hand, worked in the cotton gins in West Texas and was a post cutter later in life. Caril was a retired custodian from the Gatesville school district. He also enjoyed working outside and taking care of animals. He was preceded in death by daughter, Carolyn Blankenship; son, Robert West; and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Jadeine Smith West; children, Glenda Mason, Patricia Aguilar, R. C. Smith, Trisha Cole, Andy Smith, Kathy Smith, David Smith and Angelia Cudd; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorials may be given to Mound Cowboy Church, P.O.
