Steven Sagerty

Steven Marvin Sagerty, 65, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 of natural causes at his home in Gatesville. A private family service will be held. Steven was born on January 26, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas to William Francis and Crystal Bell Sagerty. He graduated from South East High School in Wichita, Kansas. He continued his education at the University of Maryland receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Steven married Frances Mills on August 8, 1969 in Sumter, South Carolina while stationed at Shaw AFB. This union, that lasted 43 years, was one of his best and most honorable achievements. Steven was a loving husband and father. His occupations included 20 years in the US Air Force, achieving MSGT, as well as an Electrical Contractor in California. Steven enjoyed working with his hands. He was a thorough man and would always make a list to help him remember what needed to be done. His instruction and reminders will continue to guide and influence those who he loved. He was preceded in death by his father, William Francis Sagerty; mother, Crystal Bell Sagerty; and sister-in-law, Shirley Mills. Steven is survived by his wife, Frances Sagerty; son, Steven Scott Sagerty and wife, Dovie; granddaughter, Ashlee Edwards and husband, Joshua; brother, Terry Sagerty; sister-in-law, Faye Hill; nephew, Wayne Hill; brother-in-laws, David and Ray Mills and close friend, Thierry Lanza of Homberg, Germany.
