Arvol Ray Bird Arvol Ray Bird, 64, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at his residence in Gatesville. Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Smith Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Bird was born on July 8, 1943 in Flat, Texas to the late Roy and Opal Holcombs Bird. He served his country as a soldier in the Army during the Vietnam War. He is preceded in death by his brother, Roy Bird, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Betty Bird; sons, Mike Bird and wife Danette, Mark Bird; step-son, William Carothers; step-daughter, Debbie Waclawczyk; sisters, Jadeine Smith West, Maurine Bird, Pauline Hitt and husband Howard, Maudeine Reneau and husband O’Neal; grandchildren, Dannyray Bird, Andrea Bird, Lindsey Smith and husband Bill, Lance Waclawczyk and wife Rachel, Michael Smith, Lana Waclawczyk; 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and their children.
