Mable Dean Cooper

Mable Dean Woodson Cooper, age 96, of Gatesville passed away, Friday, September 28, 2012 at a local nursing facility. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the Gatesville Church of Christ, with Minister Loyd Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery. There is no set time for visitation. Dean was born on March 20, 1916 in the Straws Mill community of Coryell County to the late Charlie and Mable Straw Whitton. She grew up in the Straws Mill community and went to school in Ewing and Cardon. She married Erman J.E. Woodson on May 25, 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1961. After his death, she attended L.V.N. training and worked for many years at Coryell Memorial Hospital, the Lowery Clinic, and various nursing homes and Home Health Care. She later married Nathan Cooper on May 17, 1963 and they resided in the Straws Mill community. She never had idle hands and she enjoyed doing handwork and sewing. She loved her grandkids and loved cooking for them. She was a member of the Gatesville Church of Christ. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Ruth Mozell Woodson Van Tassel; and two sisters, Zelma Dyer and Alice Jane Provine. Dean is survived by her husband, Nathan Cooper; son, Billy Ben Woodson and wife, Elaine of Gatesville; two grandsons, Koi Zane Woodson and wife Beth of Ft. Worth, Tannon Shane Woodson and wife Elizabeth of Houston; two granddaughters, Taleesa Van Tassel and Shari Kenny and husband Jack, all of Ft. Worth; seven great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; a beloved niece, Dee Ann Roberts and husband Larry and numerous other nieces and nephews.
