Bartley Joe Harris

Bartley Joe Harris, 82, of Gatesville passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2007. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday December 15, 2007 in the Mausoleum at Waco Memorial Park with entombment following. No visitation is scheduled. Bartley was born on April 2, 1925 in Hillsboro, Texas to the late Lem and Ethel Burk Harris. He graduated from Hillsboro high school before being drafted in the Navy. After serving for three years, Bartley graduated from Baylor and began his 30 year career with ConAgra Foods as a salesman. During those years he lived in Houston, San Angelo, El Paso and Colorado Springs. Bartley moved to Gatesville in 1992 after meeting Martha Sexton and together they enjoyed being Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for some 20 years in department stores and malls. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Harris and a daughter, Karen Harris. Bartley is survived by his companion and friend, Martha Sexton; sons, Fred Harris and wife Barbara, Eddie Harris and wife JoEtta, Colbert Harris and wife Gloria; brother, Raymond Harris and wife Virginia; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
