Evelyn Featherston Weir Attebery Evelyn Attebery, age 89, of Gatesville passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 at a local nursing facility. Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00PM, Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the funeral home. Evelyn was born on January 31, 1923 in Coryell County to Dave and Minnie Lary Featherston. She was raised and attended school in Gatesville. Evelyn married Cecil Weir in 1938. They resided in Hamilton for 5 years until moving back to Gatesville. He preceded her in death in 1968. She later married Lee Attebery in 1979. They resided in Gatesville and were active in the community, especially with the Gatesville Senior Center and the senior dances. They were named the “Senior Citizens of the Year” in Gatesville in 2000. They delivered meals on wheels for many years and hosted the Gatesville Senior Dances. He preceded her in death in 2007. She worked for Modern Cleaners for 23 years, and then owned and operated Modern Cleaners for 11 years. Evelyn also worked for Medical Plastics for 5 years and the Gatesville Primary School as a housekeeper for 8 years. Evelyn was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Minnie Lary Featherston; sisters, Rosa Lee Williams, Iva Bell Hale, Josie Benner, and Louise Chambers; 1 grandson; 1 granddaughter; 2 great-granddaughters; and great-great-granddaughter. Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Anita McNeese of Ft. Worth, Wilma Motley of Ft. Worth, Lola Wolff of McGregor, Patricia Rosas of Gatesville, Nancy Rush of Ft. Worth, and Patty Guzman of Ft. Worth; sons, Kenneth Weir of Copperas Cove, Jerry Weir of Flatonia, Don Weir of Ft. Worth, Gerald Weir of San Antonio, Galen Weir of Kaufman, and Matt Herring of Gatesville; brother, J.D. Featherston of Gatesville; 41 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Gatesville Senior Center, 208 N.
