Ivan Heimbuck, Sr., age 74, of Gatesville passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Funeral services will be 10:00AM, Monday, November 19, 2012 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Terry Hill officiating. Burial will follow at 12:00PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 – 4:00PM, Sunday at the funeral home. Ivan, Sr. was born on March 5, 1938 in Clear Lake, South Dakota to the late Reinhold Edward and Kathryn Elsie Heimbuck. He grew up in Dell Rapids, South Dakota. He went to Baking School in Dunwoody, South Dakota. He entered the Army in January 31, 1961. He re-entered the Army on June 12, 1964. Ivan, Sr. was honorably discharged on December 1, 1973. While in the service, he received a National Defense Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal-Class Bronze, 2 Loops Marksman (Rifle). Ivan, Sr. was stationed at Ft. Lee, Virginia, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Vietnam, Baumholder, Germany and Ft. Hood, Texas. He married Myrna Jean Bailey on April 9, 1964. They have four sons. Ivan, Sr. loved to play bingo, go fishing, and wrestle with his boys. He was a life member of the Gatesville V.F.W and a member of American Legion, Post 42. He was preceded in death by sister, Ellen Jean Heimbuck. Ivan, Sr. is survived by his wife, Myrna Jean Heimbuck; sons, Ivan Lawerence, Jr. and wife, Cindy, Larry Dale Heimbuck, John Edward Heimbuck and wife, Misty, and Randolph (Randy) Scott Heimbuck; sisters, Rosemary Frerk and Carolyn Heimbuck; 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Meagan Lee, Amber, Candance, Meghan, Lance, Kaedin Edward, Clarissa, Gary and Madisan; 2 great-grandchildren, Serenity and Xander; and numerous nieces and nephews.
