Bob Holderby, age 66, of Gatesville passed away Monday, December 10, 2012. Funeral services will be at 10:00AM, Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Scott’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Crosby officiating. Burial will follow at 12:00PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00PM, Wednesday, December 12 at the funeral home. Bob was born October 26, 1946 in Lubbock, Texas to the late James and Loraine McKeg Holderby. He attended school in Duncanville, graduating from Central Union High School in El Centro, CA in 1965. He married Kathy Wynell Southerland on April 24, 1970. Bob joined the U.S. Army in 1967 and was honorably discharged in 1970. He was active in the community serving in the Gatesville Exchange Club since 2002, Gatesville Lions Club since 1992, and Cars on the Way. Bob was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher, and helping with the AWANA program. He had a lifelong love for racing from dirt tracks to NASCAR. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Alice Elizabeth Snow. Bob is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathy Holderby; daughters, Donna Fenner and husband, John of Gatesville, Texas and Denise Sheets and husband, Johnny of Gatesville; grandchildren, Bobby Joe Sheets, Mary Sheets, Andriew Fenner and wife, Maisie, Austin Fenner, and Justin Fenner; great-grandson, Eian Fenner; sister, Annette McCollough and husband, Don of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 1506 W. Main, Gatesville, TX 76528.
