Clayda Parrish Hedgpeth Allen

Clayda Parrish Hedgpeth Allen, age 99, of Gatesville passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00AM, Monday, January 14, 2013 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 – 6:00PM, Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the funeral home. Clayda was born on January 3, 1914 in Hamilton County, Texas to the late Hillary Parrish and Kate Hill Parrish. She took up oil painting in 1951 and taught art classes. She retired from Texas Youth Council in 1975. Clayda lived in Hamilton for many years, and then moved to Gatesville in 1962. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Hedgpeth; daughter, Kitty Davene Dees; step-daughter, Diana Gibson; three brothers; and two sisters. Clayda is survived by her husband, Frank Allen; son, David Ben Hedgpeth and wife, Carolyn; daughter, Claydene Slover; step-son, David Allen; step-daughter, Kathy Chambers; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
