Lesley A. West

Lesley A. West, 80, of Gatesville, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at a Temple hospital with his family by his side after a short illness. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Lesley was born in Belton, Texas to the late Jim and Bessie West on December 23, 1927. He attended school in Belton and served his country in the Army for 1 ½ years in Japan before being honorably discharged in 1948. He owned and operated a cedar post yard for 58 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He was a wonderful husband, daddy and papa. He married his first love Julia Warren of Coryell City on July 14, 1951. They celebrated 56 years together this past year. They have lived in Gatesville all their married life. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Archie West, Hershel West; sisters, Rosie Lee McInis, Louise Barnes and Irene Mosley. Lesley is survived by his wife, Julia West of Gatesville; daughter, Jeanie Gale Ralston and husband Ronnie of Gatesville; son, Lesley Darrell West and wife Devonne of Temple; grandchildren, Cindy Ralston, Summer Godfrey and husband Josh, Wade Ralston and wife Lynnette all of Gatesville, Laurie Benmire of Houston, Amanda Hensley and husband Scott of Katy, TX; great grandchildren, Eian Hurlburt, Maddison Conklin, Dakota Vernon, Tyler Godfrey, Christina Hensley and Ben Hensley; sister, Lois Henderson of Eagle Lake, TX; brother, Caril West and wife Jadiene of Flat. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Gatesville, Texas.
