Mrs. Walter (Edna) Dreyer, age 94, of Gatesville, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2008 in Gatesville. Services are scheduled for Wednesday at 2 PM, February 20, 2008 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jonathan Swanson officiating. Burial will follow at Canaan Baptist Cemetery of Crawford. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, at the funeral home. Mrs. Dreyer was born January 27, 1914 near Osage in Coryell County, daughter of the late Frank and Lucy Hodel Jaeckle. She grew up in McLennan County and attended Prairie Chapel and Crawford schools. She was married to Walter Dreyer on November 8, 1939. They resided and farmed in the Coryell City area until their retirement. Mr. Dreyer preceded her in death on July 13, 1993. She was a homemaker and an active member of Canaan Baptist Church until her health kept her homebound. She was preceded in death by her sisters Ona Foster and Ruby Burns and her daughter-in-law Faye Dreyer. Survivors include daughter; Janet Westerfeld of Branson, MO, sons; Kermit Dreyer and wife Judy of Gatesville and Donald Dreyer and wife Carolyn of Lorena, grandchildren; Terry Puryear and husband Daren, Michael Dreyer and wife Mandy, Rhonda Westerfeld and husband Richard, DeAnn Althoff and husband Kevin and Devon Dreyer and wife Lauren and 11 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Mike Burns, Michael Dreyer, Richard Westerfeld, Daren Puryear, Kevin Althoff and Devon Dreyer. Honorary pallbearer will be PVT Timothy Puryear. Memorials may be made to Canaan Baptist Cemetery Association or a favorite charity. The family also expresses deep appreciation for the loving care given to Mrs. Dreyer by the staff of the Welcome Program in Gatesville and Vista Care Hospice.
